In order to keep your pool running at levels that not only make the pool appear in pristine condition but also to maintain it at a healthy level, there are several types of swimming pool supplies you will need to purchase. Swimming pool supplies are available at any store where pools or their components are sold, and many department stores will also carry them.
When you think of swimming pool supplies, especially when it comes to cleaning, it may be that the sole products that come to mind is the chemical variety. Chemical cleaners, however, are not the only swimming pool supplies that need to be purchased for the task of keeping your pool clean. You will also need supplies that range from appliance like cleaners to manual tools. For manual tools, the first thing you will need is a good skimmer. A good skimmer will come with a long handle, preferably one that is adjustable in its length. At the end of the handle is a wide, squared and sieved skimmer that you will run along the surface and just under the surface of the water in order to scoop up any floating debris that is larger in size. This activity should be carried out every time the pool is being closed for the night. You should also purchase a long handled hook which can be used to retrieve items from the bottom of the pool which might be difficult to get out with the skimmer. Both of these items can be stored via hooks placed on your pool enclosure or on your pool shed. In the way of appliances, you will need, at the least, a pump and an air compressor for your cleaning needs. The pump should be of the submersible variety, and it will mostly be used when you are getting your pool ready for use in the summer time. You will use it to get all of the water off of your winter cover, so it is important that it be able to function under the water. An air compressor will be vital when it comes time to prepare your pool for winter, as you will have to get all of the water out of the various lines and filters in your pool in order that it does not freeze over the winter and crack the lines, causing expensive and hard to repair damage that you will not know about until next season. Finally, there are no better swimming pool supplies when it comes to keeping debris out of your pool than your covers. Swimming pool covers should be easy to roll back, so you will want one that does so in a compact manner that avoids bunching. A solar cover is great in the summer for not only keeping debris out but keeping the heat in, and a good cover will minimize the expense you put in to heating your pool. You will also want to include a winter cover among your purchases of swimming pool supplies, as this specially designed fabric will keep a lot of the nastiness off of your pool surface over the months when it lies dormant.
