When you decide on the pool chemicals for your pool, you will need to ask yourself several questions before you begin. First, how big is your pool: is it an in-ground of 10,000 to 25,000 gallons or in-ground of 25,000 plus gallons; is it an above ground of 5,000 to 10,000 gallons or 10,000 to 25,000 gallons. Then you need to know which type of filter you use: is it sand, D.E. or cartridge. After that, you will need to know how long it runs: 10-12 hours or 12-24 hours. Finally yet importantly, is how often is it used. Do a lot of people use it, a medium amount, or just a few. Once all this information is given to your pool providers for pool chemicals, it will be up to them what to put in it.
The more your water is moving and the more it is circulating, the harder it will be for bacteria and algae to grow with regardless of the type or style of your pool. Your pool should have a five-step maintenance program for you to follow all the time even if you use pool chemicals. They are placed thoroughly in steps of importance: (1) circulation - debris will be filtered easier and quicker if the water is moving thoroughly. For maximum sanitizer effectiveness, the water should be circulated ten hours during the day; (2) filtration - to remove visible debris and microscopic matter, you should have a good quality filter as it is one of the most important equipment you can buy for the pool. Every filter should be cleaned chemically regular; (3) cleaning – there are many pools with no circulation at all, or very little. When this happens, lots of bacteria and algae will begin to grow. Because of this, the walls and floors must be brushed to remove debris the filter misses; (4) testing – the pH and active sanitizer level must be regularly measured and adjusted two or three times a week. Take samples to your pool provider the first day when you open the pool and when you close it down the end of the season, in addition to every four to six weeks after that; and (5) proper water maintenance – apply the right chemical products to the pool properly. By doing so, the pool with be sanitary for swimming; the equipment will be protected; and the pool surfaces will be protected by simply adding the correct pool chemicals. |
