Several pool covers are more popular than others but there are two basic types of pool covers: safety pool covers and floating pool covers. What the safety pool cover refers to is the safety of the child, preventing them from falling into the pool water. When referring to the second type of cover, the floating pool cover, its purpose is meant primarily to heat the pool, using the solar energy. They float on top of the water and are not considered safety pool covers.
Floating pool covers float directly on the water surface and anchoring is not done in a secure manner. Many pool safety experts consider this type of pool cover as extremely dangerous as it cannot show what is under the cover at the bottom of the pool, and it gives the illusion of being a sold floor that can be walked on by a young child. This type of pool covers return to their original position with 20 seconds once something has fallen beneath them, concealing the body or item at the pool bottom. There are new rules and regulations for these pool covers as they are considered a potential safety hazard: (1)The pool must be kept separate from other dwellings or areas by an approved fence or enclosure; not accepted on courtyard pools or in any situation where there is no fence or enclosure around the pool; (2) the pool must be kept under supervision of management personnel or responsible parties, and the pool must be locked until the cover is removed; (3) when not in use, the pool covers must be completely removed from the pool area, rolled up and stored at least four feet from the pool area; and (4) the pool covers must meet current American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) labeling requirements. Safety pool covers offer many advantages over the floating pool covers. They main purpose other than covering the swimming pool is to increase pool safety for children and pets. This type of pool cover is strong enough to walk on. Fully automatic operations are offered using a spring loaded key switch (the pool cover is locked in place when the key is removed). It also reduced heat loss and evaporation, saving money on high energy bills. The swimming pool is kept clean of debris, saving on maintenance bills and costs. As the pool water is kept warmer, swimming can be extended into the cooler fall times of the year with these pool covers. The net pool swimming pool covers gives different features to other covers in regard to infants and toddlers from entering the swimming area without any supervision. The small square is small enough that a child’s head or body will not fit through it. Yet they are large enough the child cannot walk on the net over the water. There is a totally unobstructed view of the water and the pool area when the net is on. There is a clear view of the pool bottom, and the pool cover fits tightly above the water. The net swimming pool covers may be one of the safest child proof cover available. |
