To know about pool liners one should know about the difference in pools. There are two types: the above ground pool and the in-ground pool. The pool liners for the above ground pools are the overlap and the beaded liners while the in-ground pool liners are made from 100% vinyl and usually have a 25 year warranty. There is quite a bit of difference between pool liners above ground as compared to the in-ground liners.
When looking at the above ground pool liners, we notice the main difference is the way they fit into the pool area. The liners that are the beaded type fits into the coping retainer strip, while the overlap liner is clamped to the top of the pool wall once it goes over the wall. There are also a few other liners for the above ground pools like the expandable (for the doughboy pools) and the J-hook or uni-bead (for the overlap or beaded pools). Over time, good maintenance can prevent pool liners from wearing out sooner than they should, which means you will not be having as much of an expense. By watching a simple thing like the pool walls, you can become aware of problems before they arrive. If you should happen to see any discoloration in the pool liners, make sure you have the correct amount or type of chemicals in the water. Watch for anything larger than a 2-foot bulge in the pool liners or fiberglass walls, as there could be a developing problem with your present drainage system or structure. This 2-foot bulge may mean that you will need to excavate or replace the pool. However, ignoring it may mean you will have to rebuild the whole pool, top to bottom. If you are putting in a new liner, measurement is the key to the success of the pool. You can measure it while the pool is full, but it would be much easier if the pool were not full. Calculations for bad weather, temperature, and shrinkage were taken into effect when the new liner was engineered; do not measure adding these calculations. When measuring your pool, round off to the nearest whole inch, using feet and inches. When figuring the numbers remember that not all pools are standard, so measure accurately. And when sending this information off, lease remember to put your name, address and phone number so if any questions arise, they can contact you. |
