Pool Fences

Pool Fences and Safety

Statistics for children drowning are much too high, partly due to the lack of pool fences. In fact, within an eight-year period in the United States, close to 6,000 children under the age of five accidentally drowned. Of all the states, children are at the greatest risk for the states of Arizona, California, and Florida due to the natural water and high number of swimming pools. Regardless of where you live, the most important thing you can do for your child, as well as other children in the neighborhood is to look at pool fences.

As you begin scouring the market, you will find you have many different options. For instance, you could choose a temporary fencing system, which would be ideal for occasional guests with small children. However, if you have children, grandchildren, or frequent visitors with children, a fence could save a life. After all, you want the pool to be a place where everyone can relax and enjoy time together, not a place where mothers and fathers are so uptight they simply have no fun.

Another option for temporary pool fences is one made from mesh. Considered one of the oldest and most reliable options, the fences look great but more importantly they are strong and dependable. If you prefer to look at permanent pool fences, these too come in a wide variety of choices. Just remember, a fence will do no good unless it has a locking gate. Therefore, when you shop around for pool fences, make sure the system is designed with a lock, or can accommodate a lock of your choosing.

Always remember that all it takes to find your child in trouble is for you to be distracted for a minute. Children are quick and can get into things you thought safe. To ensure the safety of your child, every home with a pool needs a fence. Keep in mind that pool fences need to be spaced so a child cannot squeeze through. Additionally, fences must be a minimum height to be effective. Therefore, avoid using just any type of fence, choosing instead to go with an actual pool fence.

Most pool fences use a special polyester mesh with vinyl coating. The construction is a dense basket weave, which is extremely strong. With this option, the fence would not mildew because of the moisture and it is easily cleaned. The great thing about the newer material is it is almost impossible to tear. Therefore, even the strongest child would not be able to get into the pool area. Most pool fences are very affordable, especially considering what all is at stake.
