Swimming pool signs are used for both commercial and residential pools. Typically, this type of signage is for safety purposes in which rules are posted. However, you will also find some swimming pool signs used for humor. In this article, we wanted to provide you with information on some of the common and unique types of signs you would likely see at your community center or signs you could use at your own home.
For starters, you may see swimming pool signs posted at the shallow end of the pool that say, “No Diving”. In addition, this particular type of sign may be displayed at the deep end where people swim. Obviously, the shallow end would be dangerous. If someone were to dive, they could hit their head and be injured. Then, diving in the deep end where other people swim protects the people in the water. Another common sign reads, “Please Shower before Entering Pool”. In this case, the pool owner may want someone to rinse off before getting into the pool. Let us say you had a beach house. With this, people could swim in the ocean or the pool. However, if people did not rinse sand off prior to getting into the pool, you would soon develop problems with the filtration and pump system. Then, swimming pool signs such as, “Swim at your Own Risk” or “No Lifeguard on Duty” is warnings for swimmers that if they were to get into trouble, there is not one available to help. Sure, an individual may be there at the pool that could jump in and save someone but that would be a risk taken. Therefore, if you see these types of swimming pool signs, you need to consider your swimming abilities before getting into the water. A sign that reads, “Swimming Pool Closed” is self-explanatory. In this case, it means that for any number of reasons, swimming is not allowed. The pool may be closed for repairs, perhaps the chemicals are off balance, or it might just be closed for the holiday. In any case, if someone were to swim in the pool and get into trouble, chances are the pool organization would not be responsible because they had posted the appropriate sign. Just remember that with any swimming pool signs, they need to be displayed in clear sight. Of course, if you have funny signs, it would not matter but those providing information, rules, or warnings need to be seen. One funny sign that is often seen for private residences is, “I don’t swim in your toilet so please don’t pee in my pool”. You can find swimming pool signs at your local pool supply store or online.
