Pool Enclosures

Pool Enclosures Should Not be Forgotten

Pool enclosures are a vital and in many areas necessary addition to a swimming area. The owner of a pool is inherently responsible for any accidents that may happen as a result of their pool begin open, and thus pool enclosures are vital for the protection of both yourself and others.

Children and animals often have a tendency to fall into pools, and sometimes the results can be tragic. Although most animals can swim, they may get caught up in the pool cover and tire and drown, or may not be able to climb the pool’s edges. Children will be attracted to a pool naturally, simply because it is a large body of water. It is only too easy for a child to slip and drown under the cover of a pool. Even in the wintertime, kids may see the pool as an impromptu skating rink, and there is a risk that they will fall through the ice and drown or freeze. Not only will this be an incident that you will never be able to forget (whether it is your own child or not), you may also be held legally responsible for the death if your pool was not surrounded by and adequate pool enclosures.

The best type of pool enclosures are made of chain link and is at least six feet high. This model will take away any child’s enthusiasm for a climb while also allowing for sunlight to filter through onto the users of the pool in the summertime. The enclosure should include a gate that comes with a lock. Most enclosures will in themselves prove a sufficient deterrent to kids and teenagers looking for mischief on summer nights, but if you yourself have younger children you will want to make sure that they cannot access the pool as they play outside. A lock will ensure that you are always aware when the kids are using the pool and that you can properly supervise them.

You may want to adjust the height of your pool if you find your neighborhood is prone to vandalism in the form of someone lobbing objects over the fence at night. Pool enclosures should also include a set of security lights to frighten away potential troublemakers. The links of chain will prevent most objects from being able to be thrown through into the pool through the fence.

Even above-ground pools must have some type of pool enclosure around them in order to prevent accidents. For most areas, a simple fenced yard is sufficient for a pool enclosure, although as the most important part of the device is as a safety measure, you really never can prove too cautious. Having another fence built around the actual pool in your yard will be the safest way to go. But no matter what you do, at the very least, you will definitely want to include pool enclosures.
